Primary Schools update Spring 2012

The primary schools team have expanded! Hannah is now back 2 days a week in schools and 1 day working on the profile of ICE in the city. Audrey and Jackie are continuing with their 3 and 2 day ICE week respectively. All in all we can cover a lot of ground and are very excited about working as a team! The work in primary schools continues to keep us busy and creative!

News in brief

As well as continuing with the current visits to schools, we have been asked to go into Wynstream and Kenn school fortnightly for an assembly instead of monthly. We will also be offering lunch clubs again to St Sidwell's next term and Ladysmith beginning this term. We are teaming up with Isca church to offer Whipton Barton a bigger ICE team and more input through assemblies, clubs and lessons and we hope to offer more lessons to more schools this year. We are very encouraged to work with some great church workers who come on board as associate workers with us. We see the relationships develop between churches and the children we meet in schools. This really does uplift the city wide vision of both church and ICE that young people would come to know more about Jesus. These are real kingdom partnerships and we do ask that you'll join us in prayer for more of these relationships and partnerships to grow. Alphington and Ide school are now regularly visited by Gudrun Thomas who is the new children's and family worker at St Michael's and all Angel's, Alphington and we are hoping to expand the work in the west exe side of the city – watch this space!

A big thank you goes to all our associate workers who enable us to keep the vision of ICE going. Here is a list of our activities and who we're working with across the week that will help you with your praying. Thank you.

Vision for the future

We hope to expand our work in Stoke Hill Junior School and Montgomery Primary School so if you could especially keep these schools in your prayers that would be great! We are enjoying meeting together as a whole team on Mondays and this is a good time to catch up! We are also hoping to use the “wings of faith” organisation in primary schools – they have real birds of prey that they use in school and church contexts to talk about God's creation. Also the 3 of us are hoping to run a biscuit icing outreach event at some point in the future to encourage the link between church and school.
